| Four breeds of dogs were descended from mastiff type dogs of which the Bernese Mountain dog is one. The Bernese has a tri-colored long silky coat and loves the cold. Bernese are good natured and have a tremendous desire to please. The average weight of the dog is from 90 to 120 pounds and the bitch's weight is from 70 to 95 pounds. These beautiful animals have a short life expectancy of 6-8 years. |
